Why We NEED Measure O
The Official Argument in Favor of Measure O
To maintain East Palo Alto's safe, clean drinking water, help our kids, and keep our community safe, vote YES on O!
YES ON O PROTECTS EAST PALO ALTO'S SAFE, CLEAN DRINKING WATER
Yes on O upgrades deteriorating pipes that distribute our drinking water and installs drinking water storage tanks large enough to support future City growth.
Measure O also:
- Prevents pollution from entering the Bay and our streets
- Repairs aging storm drains to prevent neighborhood flooding
YES ON O INVESTS IN OUR CHILDREN/YOUTH
We must invest in the future of our kids! East Palo Alto needs more safe places for our young people, especially after school and during summer. For example, our library is undersized, overcrowded and lacks adequate space for the literacy and children's programming our families depend on.
Yes on O provides a modern library with up-to-date technology, hands on learning spaces, and dedicated areas for children and teens so they have somewhere safe to go after school and in the summer. Creation of a youth sports park provides opportunities for kids to learn, play and gather – keeping them safely out of trouble.
YES ON O KEEPS EAST PALO ALTO SAFE
Some public facilities are not earthquake safe -- Yes on O addresses seismic safety needs and constructs an up-to-date Emergency Command Center so our community is ready for any emergency.
YES on O IS FISCALLY ACCOUNTABLE
Yes on O includes tough accountability provisions including:
- Required PUBLIC DISCLOSURE
- Independent OVERSIGHT
- Annual AUDITS
These fiscal safeguards ensure YES on O funds are used efficiently, effectively, and as promised.
Join your neighbors, youth and library program volunteers, and a unanimous City Council--vote YES on O for safe spaces for our kids, clean drinking water, seismically sound infrastructure, and a safer East Palo Alto.
